Sport touches almost everyone in Australia but its role in regional Australia can be even more valuable. In areas where your nearest neighbour is 5km down the road, sport brings people together and helps to develop communities.
We continue sports month on Regional Voices with an interview with Peter Clifton.
Peter is the Club Treasurer of the local cricket club in Garema; a small farming community in Central West NSW.
Over the last four years, a thriving eight-a-side cricket competition has grown and the club's events give the whole community something to be proud of.
Peter talks to Kendi Burness-Cowan about how the cricket club has helped bring the community together.
